Litigation Secretary Umhlanga Durban
Our law firm client Umhlanga Durban is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Litigation Secretary to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will provide administrative support to attorneys in the litigation department, ensuring that all legal documents are prepared, filed, and managed efficiently. The Litigation Secretary will play a crucial role in maintaining the workflow of the litigation process and assisting with case management. Must be able to speak Afrikaans and English with a VALID DRIVERS LICENSE.
Salary Negotiable to experience and qualification – Office based job 8 to 5 (Permanent role)
Qualification and Min requirements
Matriculation certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent with a relevant qualification in legal studies or secretarial studies is an added bonus
Proven experience of 3-5+ years as a Litigation Secretary or in a similar role within a law firm.
Working in Candidate will be working in a litigation environment support litigation attorneys and must have strong communication skills and be vibrant
Knowledge of litigation processes and court procedures in South Africa.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and legal case management software.
Excellent typing skills with a high level of accuracy.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Afrikaans and English essential
Own Reliable Transport – VALID DRIVERS LICENSE
Responsibilities
Candidate will be liaising both verbally and in writing with Attorneys and counsel, client representatives, Judges registrars and the like.
Be accurate in maintaining records and storing information, arranging meetings and managing diaries
Prepping of files for billings
Typing pleadings, affidavits and agreements
Managing social events and diaries of litigation team.
Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
Manage the filing of documents with the court and ensure compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Maintain and organize case files, both electronic and physical, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
Schedule and coordinate meetings, court appearances, and depositions for attorneys.
Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel on behalf of attorneys.
Perform general administrative tasks, including answering phones, managing correspondence, and maintaining office supplies.
