Job Description

Payroll Officer Maitland Cape Town

 

Our Technology manufacturing client is looking for a Payroll Officer with 5 years plus experience which will be responsible for managing the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, and compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and employee benefits.

Min Qualifications and requirements

Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.

Minimum of 5  years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in South Africa.

Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation and tax regulations.

Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage, Pastel, VIP) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with HRIS systems.

Knowledge of employee benefits and compensation structures.

Certification in payroll management (e.g., SAPA, IPM) is an advantage.

 

Responsibilities

Payroll Processing – Prepare and process the monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Calculate salaries, deductions, bonuses, and overtime, ensuring all entries are accurate and timely.

Compliance – Ensure compliance with South African labor laws, tax regulations, and other statutory requirements related to payroll.

Record Keeping – Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, pay rates, and deductions.

Prepare and maintain payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.

Employee Support – Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits.

Reconciliation – Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

System Management – manage and maintain the payroll software/system, ensuring data integrity and security.

Tax Reporting – Prepare and submit all necessary tax returns and reports to the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and other relevant authorities.

Ensure that all payroll taxes are calculated and paid on time.
